M1MT: Medical geoinformation system of tick-borne infections spread

Medical geoinformation system of tick-borne infections spread – is a specialized medical cartographic and analytical resource designed to collect, store, accumulate, analyze and display information about the spread of tick-borne infections in a particular region. The map provides analytical information about a wide range of tick-borne infections in order to achieve a comprehensive look at the current situation with infectious diseases and their impact on the health of people and animals.

Web map features:

  • the most complete set of functions: map navigation, data editing, map vector layers, spatial analysis, address search;
  • easy search (including group search by a certain parameter), online update and database editing;;
  • a wide range of analytical capabilities (display of information in the form of graphs, spatial and statistical analysis);;
  • constant availability for work, access to the resource database using a mobile device (smartphone, tablet);
  • protection of information from distortion and unauthorized access;
  • the possibility of multi-user access and group editing of the database;
  • collecting and editing data in the field in real time using a mobile app.

Medical geographic information system of tick-borne infections spread – monitoring tool of the medical-geographical situation

  • get a flexible platform for fixing, storing and displaying data on the locations of tick-borne pathogens;
  • use the system of tools for analyzing morphometric indicators of ticks as spreadsheets, charts and graphs with reference to the terrain;
  • ensure the collection of data on the spread of tick-borne disease and infection of the population in the field in real time using a mobile application synchronized with the geographic information system;
  • carry out systematic monitoring, accounting and control of the geographic situation of the studied region;
  • use the query system and intelligent web map search for a spatial analysis of the prevalence of tick-borne diseases (babesiosis, anaplasmosis, piroplasmosis, etc.) and the supervision of real threats to public health.

Layers set of medical GIS

A layers set of medical geoinformation system is formed at the request of the customer. One of the variants of the map structure is the construction of layers based on tick-borne infectious diseases:

  • tick-borne encephalitis;
  • tick-borne borreliosis (Lyme disease);
  • human granulocytic ehrlichiosis;
  • human monocytic ehrlichiosis;
  • anaplasmosis;
  • piroplasmosis;
  • babesiosis and others..

Another option for building layers of an interactive map is based on the types of tick-borne disease pathogens.

Requirements, cost and timing of the order

To create a medical GIS, the customer must provide an electronic database of the spread of tick-borne diseases (in the tabular form of the established sample). Separate columns of the database must include the date and place of infection, morphometric parameters of the pathogen and the disease that it suffers. If the customer cannot provide the database in electronic format, our employees may provide digitization services for the relevant documents for an additional fee.

The cost of creating a medical GIS is calculated taking into account the price of software, the number of tick-borne infections that need to be mapped, the extensiveness of the database, the number of map editors, and the customer’s individual wishes. The timeframe for creating a GIS is up to 40 days from the moment of the provision of the initial information necessary for its implementation and the signing of a cooperation agreement.

Services to be provided prior to GIS development

  • Consulting
  • Scanning of paper documents and maps
  • Georeferencing of cartographic materials
  • Digitization
  • Provisioning of interactive map database
